Introducing Quame Rhymz; Sensational Indie Artiste

Published

on

Darko Joshua was born on the 19th of December 1998 at Donkorkrom to Mr. Gagba Cosmos and Mrs. Kiti Stella. Quame Rhymz hails from The Afram Plains Donkorkrom (Kwahu North) in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He had his basic education at St. Michael R/C and further his education at Donkorkrom Agriculture Senior high school where he offered General Arts and came out with flying colors.

After Senior High Education, even though he lived all his life in Donkorkrom, Quame Rhymz moved to Tema where he discovered he had a music talent. Back in high school, he had a passion for music but he did not see much of it until one of his friends who had music on his shoulders confronted him to help write his choruses of which he gladly did. This went on for quite some time so he decided to pen down a few bars for himself. He did the verse to a few friends and they showed much interest and encouraged him to keep up the good work. It was then, Quame realized he could be one of the best if he keeps writing.

Even though his voice has been analogized to that of Kwesi Arthur, Quame is more into Afrobeats and Hip-hop. He explained to MrrrDaisy that, his music is more of the things he goes through and the experiences and challenges in life. Although the hip-hop genre is more of bragging, he is devoted to using his music to motivate the youth like himself and the elderly. His first mastered piece was released on the 25th December in 2019 and was produced by AkTheBeatz, titled Not Like This. He is currently working with Nana Akua Britwum (Akua Creamy) and has unreleased projects with WeAreGHGSsnowBeatz, and a few more. In April 2020, he got featured on Gyaldem Tish single; Nuh, and they are both working on the video for the song.

Sarkodie has been one of his greatest motivations ever since he started music professionally. Sarkodie is one of the artistes from Ghana who has strived hard to be at where he is now, and that alone gives him the motivation and joy that one day, he will be the next artiste if not to replace him, at least he will be at the apex of his career. Kwesi Arthur is also a great influence as he can easily relate to his music and they have something in common.

In this line of business, his aim is to be great, reach his goal, and put smiles on the faces of people and that of his family. He was recently nominated for 2D Events High Skull Awards and he mostly enjoys reading and writing as Reading always seems to broaden the human mindset of thinking and makes him acquire more knowledge and concepts on penning down some lyrics.

Rex Omar :- It only takes the grace of God for musicians to stay clear of drugs

Published

on

According to veteran musician Rex Omar,
in an interview with Happy 98.9 FM’s Doctar Cann on ‘Showbiz Xtra’, it only takes the grace of God for musicians to stay clear of drugs.

Rex Omar revealed that a lot of artistes are tricked into doing drugs by the labels they work with. He was tricked into these things and that was the level he got to until he left.
Record labels sign artistes all the time and because these artistes are hungry for succcess, their labels use that hunger to hook them to drugs.
The musician indicated that after artistes gain international acclamation, they perform on all the big stages and the frequent performances exhaust them.

“Because they’re passionate for success, they want to play till the end. And when their managers see this, they start to hook them on drugs to enhance their performance and help them overcome fatigue. After taking the drugs continually, they get hooked to it.”
“I don’t take weed and I have no problem with anyone who uses weed. We are too judgemental. Someone drinks tea and another also take weed. What moral right do you have to judge these individuals?” Rex queried.

Fake ‘UN’ awards, VGMA are on the scale – Shatana

Published

on

Singer Shatana has compared Ghana’s most popular awards event, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) to the so-called ‘United Nations and Kofi Annan collaborative awards ceremony’ which was held in Accra last Friday, August 28, 2020.

Titled the Global Blueprint Excellence Award, the ceremony attracted a host of Ghanaian personalities and celebrities in the midst of this global pandemic. On the night, the likes of BET award winner, Sarkodie, Berla Mundi, D-Black, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ebenezer Oduro, Johnny Hughes and many more received awards from the fake organizers.

However, wading into the matter, Shatana likened the fake award scheme to the VGMAs.
She explained that both the VGMA and the Global Blueprint Excellence Award are at par due to their mode of operations.

“Sincerely, the VGMA and the Global Blue Blueprint Excellence Award are on the same scale, their modus operandi are similar and their weird way of selecting their winners can even be best described as scamming,” She disclosed this on Hot TV’s Ajara comedy show.
To buttress her claim, the singer indicated that VGMAs decision to crown Kuami Eugene as the Artiste of the Year and its failure to honour the likes of Eno Baranoy, Sista Efia, Epixode and other deserving artiste at this year’s edition has exposed the credibility of the scheme.

Meanwhile, initiator of the Global Blueprint Excellence Award, Dr. Kwame Owusu Fordjour has debunked allegations that his award scheme is a scam.

In an interview with JoyNews, he insisted that the award is credible since he is an advocate of development and excellent leadership.
“I am surprised because this is an open thing that we just held. If anybody has a problem with me or our institution, they should have contacted us for clarification.

I have always been an advocate for development, excellence and in honouring others and attaching ourselves to global icons and leadership we bring them out,” he stated.
