The Ghanaian music industry has recently witnessed a couple of celebrity marriage ceremonies and the question on everyone’s lips is ‘who’s next’?.
The originator of TwiPop rap genre, Dr Cryme recently posted some of the photos of his supposed marriage ceremony with the caption “YES I DO!” and of course had them in quotes but most people thought it was a joke.
When asked in a celebrity interview with Amansan Krakye of Radio Central fame in Cape Coast whether he’s actually married or it was just for hype, he said
“Amansan Krakye first of all let me apologize to you for not inviting you to my marriage ceremony but expect greater things from me henceforth.
Yeah I heard most of the things that were said after I got married. Some people said it’s just for hype, some people said I was a groomsman for a friend’s wedding and others even said it was a photoshop but be assured that I’m not an attention seeker”.
Responding to the issue of marriage stalling careers of budding talented musicians and whether his lyrics and music career will be affected, he said
“I strongly believe that marriage will not reduce my lyrics or music career but rather enhance it with garnishing flavour since I’m now in a better position to talk about love and other life related issues”.
Dr Cryme is the stage name of Darlington Kwasi Agyekum, a Ghanaian rapper and early proponent of the Ghanaian “twipop” genre.
