Griezmann was presented to Barcelona fans on Sunday and presented with the No.17 shirt by Josep Maria Bartomeu.
In something of a surprise, the Frenchman has never had any affinity with the number, having taken the No.7 at both Real Sociedad – after starting with the No.27 – and Atletico Madrid, as well as with his country.
Since the introduction of fixed shirt numbers in the 1995/96 season, a total of 13 players have used the no.17 at the club. They are: Amunike, Celades, Bogarde, Petit, Christanval, Mendieta, Van Bommel, Giovani dos Santos, Pedro, Song, Munir, Alcácer and Murillo.
Griezmann will thus become the third French player to take on the number, after Emmanuel Petit (2001/01) and Philippe Christanval (2001/02).
