Did You Know Trendy Rail Is The Face Behind Sarkodie’s Looks?

Published

on

“Fashion they say is what you buy, but the style is what you do with it”. For the past four years, one amazing lady has been doing magic in creating the visual style and appearance of the most decorated rapper in Africa – Sarkodie and some other international acts and has made a business out of it.

Ghanaian born, but the UK raised and based Nana Odum, popularly known as TrendyRail, a full-time stylist whose passion got flared up by happenstance during her five years’ work experience as a Visual Merchandiser. Her love for styling has now led to building a business out of her passion.

The now pro stylist who started off in 2014, but branded properly to position herself well in 2015 traced her creativity to her bloodline, saying, almost everyone in her family is creative in some sort of way. To oust the fear of being an ordinary stylist, TrendyRail goes out of her way to make her style have a perfect blend of antiquity while the essential 21st ubiquitous looks are not downplayed.

TrendyRail since the inception of her rocky journey to becoming an accepted name in the styling, space have had her ups and downs, but certainly, styling an artist you don’t like seemed like the height of the rock right. That’s how she met her now cash cow client, Sarkodie.

“I got a call to Style Sarkodie by a director I had previously worked with. Since I wasn’t really a fan of his music, I was a little on the edge. It was more like emotions v’s Money.” She said with a smile. “I obviously choose money! But imagine being on set and you are there to style somebody you don’t like? It was soo funny because he noticed it too. To cut a long story short, he was so fun to be around and my opinion completely changed. He then became my client after I styled him for “Tonga – Joey B Ft Sarkodie.” Sark is more or less my Big brother now.” Shared by TrendyReail on her first working experience with Sarkodie.

The daring stylist who has over the years worked with the likes of Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Wande Coal, Koredo Bello, Kuami Eugene, Kidi and MzVee has changed the face of artistic looks and artiste appearance. She is poised on expanding her territories, but faced with some impervious; understanding the need for a stylist by arts, funds as well as the will to stand out.

Responding to why she has not worked with more Ghanaian celebrities, she said. “This answer might rub some people the wrong way, but I must be honest! It will be a dream come true to have a few clients in Ghana but I’ve come to realize that Ghanaians love luxury, but the majority of them doesn’t want to pay for that luxury. Some are under the impression that “Tagging you” will bring you numbers on social media, but I’m sorry, these numbers on social media does not bring money to my table.”

She continued saying, “I’ve had meetings with a few, but I feel like they just don’t get the essence of it. Branding is the foundation of every creative, so if you don’t take it seriously you will definitely become mediocre. I prefer one client who understands and knows the worth of their brand. This type of client is worth my time and I will be more than happy to invest my creativity.”

TrendyRail is open to working with other artists on the continent if approached with a good deal. Be on the lookout for her new creations which will soon be released. Check our some of her works below.

Azigiza-: Ghana didn’t take advantatge of Shatta Wale and Beyonce’s collaboration

Victor Kpakpo Addo popularly known as Reverend Azigiza Jnr has asked the government to find ways of pushing Ghanaian acts onto the international scene.

Speaking on Upside Down on Citi TV, he said Ghana did not take advantage of Shatta Wale’s feature on Beyonce’s ‘The Lion King: The gift’ album.

He said this when he was asked to assess the performance of the current crop of Ghanaian musicians.
“I really love Sarkodie. I have never met him but I think he has got something that even if the Ghana Tourist Board, the musicians union whatever can pick some three, four, five people and find ways of pushing them,” he said.
“I was excited when I saw Shatta Wale and Beyonce. It was good, I saw Stonebwoy and other people. But we can be intentional. For example, what advantage have we taken from Shatta Wale and Beyonce? What have done with it?” he asked.
He further noted that the Ghana Tourism Authority can ride on it, pick this guy and market him to the world.
“Let’s do something on CNN with this guy, inviting them to Ghana. Music is a lifestyle thing so see how you can weave other lifestyle stuff with it,” he said.
He started his Disc Jockey career in 1991 on the radio as a presenter and DJ and hosted programmes such as Joy Fm’s Joy Beach Jam, Video Vibes, Guinness Music for Your Dancing Feet on GTV and the Azigiza show.
Rev. Azigiza enrolled in some Bible schools and since become a minister of the gospel.
