“Be a first rate version of yourself and not a second rate of somebody else”. These were the words of Veteran Broadcaster,Tommy Annan-Forson as he received the Inspirational Personality Award at the Eagle Empire Ministries International-Dansoman.

The Award is given to personalities whose achievements have, over the decades, served as a standard and a source of motivation, particularly to the youth. The head pastor of the church, Apostle Emmanuel Valis Akyianu revealed that the Inspirational Personality Award was birthed out of an assertion by his late father, former Chief Fire Officer, Valis Akyeanu , that “we always wait for legends to die before we eulogize them”.

The Veteran media personality after so many years of experience in the media fraternity expressed his disbelieve as to how a movie like “Kukesi” is not produced on monthly basis in Ghana. A lot of unnecessarily materials on our TVs and how will they educate our children on how our fore fathers lived. It is not surprising that we find a lot of young ones on the street and out of 10 only 1 could be well cultured with good manners. After watching part of KUKESI, I was amazed and will urge all Ghanaians to bring their wards to watch this movie.

He further added that Africans are defined by their values and culture so no matter how we imitate the whites, we will still be be Africans. I loved KUKESI movie the very first day I saw the album cover.

Tommy Annan-Forson, who has served the broadcasting fraternity for over 36 years, was honoured for his immense contribution to changing the face of Broadcasting in Ghana. He recounted how he got into broadcasting, adding that although he was trained as an auto mechanic, his entry into broadcasting was the best experience he had ever had. The Country Music legend who currently hosts “Country Crossroads” on Eezy FM expressed gratitude to the church for the honour done him, and urged young broadcasters and aspiring broadcasters to focus on humility and God as their means to achieving greater heights.

The Inspirational Personality Award is meant to be a life-time award “with no expiry date”, with subsequent events to be held upon finding the next recipient.

KUKESI movie is set to be premiered at the Global Cinema-Weija on 3rd November 2018. Get your ticket below.
