STUDENTS USE PLASTIC CHAIRS IN CLASSROOMS DUE TO SHORTAGE OF DESKS IN SCHOOLS

  1. The implementation of the free SHS policy by the New patriotic Party has led to many challenges in the education center. The management of Koforidua Senior High Technical School (SECTECH) in the Eastern Region has resorted to the use of plastic chairs in classrooms due to acute shortage of desks in the school.

Some students have improvised with woods as desks for writing while sitting on plastic chairs. Others also use their laps as desks.

Some of the students who do not want to distort their handwriting turn to use their chairs as tables and kneel to write.

Some of the students complain of back and neck pain. How can our education be best improve with this challenges

The school authorities are appealing to the government, especially the Ministry of Education, to come to their aid.
